Notes
Each 2 rows of pattern forms 1 row of loops. Turning ch counts as a st. Be sure to work in top of turning ch at end of row. Confirm st count after each dc row. Change colors as follows: In last st before changing to new color, work until 2 loops remain on hook. With new color, yarn over and draw through last 2 loops on hook.
These lid instructions are for a lid 16" x 14" with a slight curve at top and bottom.
There is a 1"border around all edges except the back where the hinges are. The border around the edges will be gathered in with crocheted elastic for fit.

Rnd 2: *Work 1 sc into each of next 2 sc, sk 1 sc; rep from * around.
Rnd 3: Work 1 sc into each st around; fasten off. If your Lid is a different size: If your lid is shorter, just add or subtract rows in the col sections that are worked even. If it is wider or shaped differently, make your own pattern by laying a piece of newspaper under the closed lid and draw an outline around it. Add the 1" border around all edges except the back. Start the lid cover as directed for the beg ch and the first 2 rows. Lay your work on your outline every few rows and shape your incs and decs as needed to match your drawing. Finish as above.
